Mimi H. is a Toronto-based ceramic artist and a graduate of the Bachelor of Craft and Design program at Sheridan College. Her practice centers on hand-built functional and sculptural objects that explore the complex intersections of home, identity, and belonging. Through her signature style of Tactile Impressionism, Mimi utilizes slow, rhythmic coiling and pinching techniques to create "lived companions"—objects that ground the user in the sensory rituals of daily life. Mimi’s work is characterized by a commitment to the Aesthetics of Care, providing a handcrafted remedy to the standardization of modern domestic spaces.
In addition to her studio practice, Mimi is a dedicated educator and advocate for craft, teaching pottery through private workshops and serving as a Studio Technician for a local community studio. In these roles, she fosters creative learning and technical knowledge-sharing, contributing to the growth and vibrancy of Toronto’s ceramic arts landscape.
